Apple Rolls


1 to 2 lb. frozen (thawed) or homemade white bread dough

4 medium cooking apples, peeled, cored & thinly sliced

1/2 C. sugar.........................dash salt

1 t. cinnamon.......................1/3 C. packed brown sugar

1/4 t. nutmeg.......................1/4 C. butter

1/4 t. ginger.........................1/2 t. cinnamon

Let dough rise in a warm place till double. Punch down & let rest for 10 minutes. Roll into a 14x16" rectangle. Toss sliced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger & salt. Distribute over the dough rectangle & roll up from the long side. Cut into 8 thick slices. Mix brown sugar, butter & cinnamon; sprinkle in the bottom of a 13x9" baking pan. Place rolls, cut side down, over sugar mixture. Let stand till nearly double. Bake at 350° for 50 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
