Caramel Fudge Brownie Pie


1 (14oz.) bag caramels.............................2/3 C. flour

1/3 C. evaporated milk.............................2 large eggs, beaten

2 (1oz.) squares unsweetened chocolate....1 t. vanilla

1/2 C. butter or margarine.........................1/2 C. chopped pecans

1 C. sugar.................................................1/2 C. pecan halves

1/4 C. semisweet chocolate chips

Combine caramels & evaporated milk in a heavy saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until caramels melt. Remove from heat, & let cool slightly.

Melt chocolate squares & butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat & stir in sugar, flour, eggs & vanilla; mix well. Stir in chopped pecans. Pour 1/2 of batter into a greased & floured 9" pie plate. Spread half of caramel mixture over chocolate batter. Top with remaining chocolate batter. Set aside remaining caramel mixture, and keep warm. Bake pie at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.

Top hot pie with remaining caramel mixture & sprinkle with chocolate chips. Let stand 1 minute. Swirl caramel & chocolate with a knife. Garnish top with pecan halves, bake an additional 4 minutes. Let pie cool completely on a rack, Chill at least 2 hours before serving.
