Ice cream made with snow many years ago when the Roman Emperor Nero Claudius
Caesar wanted a cold dessert on a hot afternoon, he sent runners into the
mountains for snow. It was brought back and flavored with fruit juices and
honey. The result was the forerunner of our fruit ices and sherbets.
Later eggnog was poured over the snow and a cold dish similar to our ice cream
was enjoyed.
