Pistachio Fudge Brownies


4 squares (1 oz. each) unsweetened chocolate, melted

1/2 C butter or margarine, softened...........3 eggs

3/4 C. sugar.............................................3/4 t. vanilla

2/3 C. packed brown sugar.....................1 C. flour

1/3 C. light corn syrup.............................1/4 t. salt

In a mixer bowl, cream butter or margarine & sugars till light & fluffy; add corn syrup. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add vanilla & melted chocolate, scraping sides of bowl occasionally. Stir in flour & salt just until blended. Spread into a greased & floured 9" square pan. Bake at 375° for 30 to 45 minutes until pick comes out barely clean. Do not overbake. Cool completely in pan on wire rack before glazing.

Chocolate Pistachio Glaze:

2 (1 oz. each) squares unsweetened chocolate

2 T. butter or margarine

1/4 C. blanched, finely chopped pistachio nuts

Melt chocolate & butter over hot, not boiling water; stirring occasionally until smooth & melted.Remove from heat; immediately pour over top of brownies, spreading evenly with spatula. Cool 10 minutes. Sprinkle on nuts, let glaze set completely before serving. Yield: 16 squares
