Orange Drop Cookies
2/3 C. Crisco
3/4 C. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. orange juice (fresh-squeezed)
2 Tbsp. orange rind
2 C. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
Orange Butter Icing:
2 C. sifted powdered sugar
2 Tbsp. butter, melted
1 Tbsp. grated orange rind
about 2 Tbsp. orange juice
Mix Crisco, sugar and egg. Stir in orange rind and juice. Measure flour. Sift
and blend in other dry ingredients. Stir in with shortening mixture. Drop by
rounded teaspoons 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes
at 375 degrees. Frost with Orange Butter Icing.
Makes 3-1/2 dozen.
Orange Butter Icing: Blend powdered sugar and melted
butter; stir in orange rind and orange juice until smooth.
